6 Toxic Ingredients in Everyday Skin Care Products

Walking down the aisle of your local drugstore or cosmetic part of their department store and you're in heaven toxic to skin care. Most cosmetic products on the market contain chemicals that may be carcinogenic, causing hair loss, mouth sores, mimic hormones, causing a rash or allergic reaction.

How can you identify these toxic ingredients?

arm is the most common culprits in toxic skin care (there are many)! Knowing the risks can help you determine whether you want to avoid or put all of their products and their husbands and children "as well. None of this information is reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration, but they are also those who argue that there are no problems with drinking milk from cows injected with growth hormones and antibiotics.

• phthalates
• Mineral oil and other petroleum products
• sodium lauryl / laureth sulfate
• parabens
• formaldehyde
• Selenium sulfide

ftalata.Uistinu toxic ingredient for skin care. Dibutylphthalate and diethylphthalate (DBP, DEP, also butyl ester) to create a thin film of nail polish and makeup, creams help to absorb into the skin, and also cause birth defects in rats. Oops! Not only in rats, but DBP has also been known to cause birth defects in male fetuses. This ingredient is especially important to avoid if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. Companies are paying attention and L'Oreal France is completely abolished the use of DBP in nail polish because of severe allergic reactions, while others are sure to follow.

mineral oil. All petrochemical-based ingredients (mineral oil, petrolatum, paraffin, or the ingredients starting with propyl-, methyl-or Ethe-) sit on the surface of your skin but is absorbed. That is why it can seem as if it * really * moisturizing, but it's really just creates a barrier. Does this mean that qualify as toxic skin care? Although this is not necessarily harmful, it prevents the skin from breathing and naturally detoxifying your body, two natural processes that should be encouraged, rather than quit.

sodium lauryl / laureth sulphate. This is a sudsing detergent found in many products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste and)! As a detergent, soap, but it is known to cause hair loss, dandruff, mouth sores and eye damage. Do you really want to wash your hair with it?

paraben. This is the most commonly used preservative, even in product companies on the edge of natural things. They help keep your product from going bad (which is good) but the irritants that mimic estrogen and are associated with breast cancer (which is bad!). The natural skin care products, you can find May be replaced by any number of essential oil or extract with antibacterial properties. It is good to avoid parabens, but if the choice between parabens and formaldehyde (see below), parabens are the lesser of two evils.

formaldehyde. Most people today know that formaldehyde is bad. Remember science class in high school when you had to dissect the dead worm / frog / cat? My middle school biology teacher was completely lost his sense of smell due to exposure. These animals were preserved in formalin. But worse, it is classified by EPA as a probable human carcinogen! The tricky part is, while the labels on your skin care product can not list "formaldehyde", the following ingredients break down and release formaldehyde:
• Diazolidinyl urea (or 3-diol Diazolidinyl urea)
• 2-Bromo-2-nitropropane-1 (or BRONOPOL)
• DMDM hydantoin
• imidazolidinyl urea
• quaternium-15
Be especially careful if they are found in hair products and regularly blow dry or straighten your hair, because heat can release formaldehyde.

selenium sulfide. This is a topical anti-fungal found anti-dandruff shampoos. In your skin cells, it splits into selenium and sulfide ions, and reduced turnover of skin cells (the opposite effect exfoliant). Some minor side effects include hair loss or discoloration (turning green!), Oily skin and skin and eye irritation. Extreme symptoms include vomiting, abdominal pain, nausea and loss of nails. Selenium sulfide is also associated with damage to internal organs. Look for natural cures dandruff instead.
