3 Eat lots of different foods
Children need to eat lots of different foods, including large quantities of vegetables, legumes, fruits and whole grains, and small amounts of dairy and meat to get all the nutrients needed for growth and good health. Macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats and proteins) are the bodies main source of fuel. Micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) are required for many bodily functions.
4 Drink plenty of fluids
Children should drink plenty of fluids for hydration, and provides nutrients for good health and growth.
5 Be active everyday
Being active promotes healthy growth and development. Children need at least 1 hour moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. Playing hide and seek, tag games and sports are great ways to get children, and also the moving party.
