Winter Skincare Musts

This week, during the Flagstaff turned bitterly cold and the boy is my skin feels a change. So I thought it would be a good time to write about a few tips for keeping your skin in tip top condition. As a note, I'm going to do a separate blog on the hands and lips, as I hear from many people about these two specific areas.

Here's my advice, and some general guidelines to help your skin stay alive during the winter months:

1 Use a humidifier

2 Do not forget the sun

sunscreen tends to not be as much of the focus in the winter, but your skin is still vulnerable to the harmful effects of the sun. In fact, add the glow of the sun and its ability to damage increases. Remember to apply sunscreen!

3 Moisturize often

I'm sure everyone thinks the answer to their prayers during the winter - and you're right. However, you really need to be aware that using moisturizers. Look no clogging oils such as coconut, avocado or almond oil. Another good product idea is a good lotion that contains a natural wax, a wax may provide a protective layer on the skin to help retain more moisture.

4 Exfoliate

To be a moisturizer to be effective, you need the skin to absorb it. It is time to remove dead skin cells that are more prevalent due to the drying effects winter weather conditions.

5 Limit Hot Showers and baths (gasp ):

There is no doubt about it, hot water will dehydrate your skin. I hate to say because I have a hot shower and a hot bath kind of gal. The truth is never going to give these up, so I check and add oil to my bath and massage oil into my skin while showering.

6 Hydrate

We talked about moisturizing your air, now is the time to hydrate your body. You hear it often, but it is important during the winter. Drink up - water that is. Another great way to hydrate your skin during winter is often fog mist designed to hydrate, or even water.

7 Supplements

There are several supplements that can help you inside. Fish oil and flax seed are excellent sources of moisture filling of fatty acids, zinc is required for the production of oil glands of the skin. Vitamin C for collagen production.

8 Quit Smoking

Now is the time! Toxins found in cigarettes in combination with dry winter air increases the risk of premature aging and skin damage.

What are your favorite products to help you survive the dry winter months?
